  Hi Azaria,

  Interesting thoughts in your post. I couldn't help but wonder if people today would recognize another Hitler. You said that the German people bore some responsibility for what happened. I agree. However, how much did they really know about what was going on? The invasion of Poland was a reponse to a falsified story about Polish incursion into Germany. The German people saw that invasion as justified.

  Interestingly, German soldiers had a belt buckle with the words "God is with us" (or something close to that).

  So would a nation, no matter who they are, recognize another Hitler in the making?

  I doubt it.

  If Your JW Relative Needed Blood, Would You Force It On Them?

  due to the fact that most of us do not feel that it is scripturally wrong to take blood, if your relative was told that they needed a transfusion and you could see that they get it, even if it's against their wishes, would you force blood into them??

  Hi Will,

  I think your arguement assumes that the JW in question wants to die. That is usually not the case. They would rather live, but if they absolutely have to die, they are willing to. They are definitely willing to take other means to survive, which is not the case with your OD example, or your jumper example.

  i traded in my 1997 vw jetta (which had tons of problems....i'd just figured i'd gotten a bum car and decided to give the new jetta's a try).

  According to one of the automotive trade journals floating around at work, VW has one of the worst customer satisfaction records, even below Chrysler. Honda, Hyundai, Lexus and Mercedes were at the top.

  Hi Eduardo,

  I agree with you that many here have formed their own little judgemental groups. It actually does a disservice to the intent of this site to be so derogatory toward the JWs and the WT. Many honest JW's looking to get the real scoup on the WT will be turned off to this site by the constant name calling and hatred shown toward anybody supporting the JW side. The term "troll" is quickly thrown out as soon as somebody expresses agreement with the WT.

  I guess you can take the boy out of the JW's but you can't take the JW out of the boy. Those who seem to protest the loudest against the JW's seem to act the most like them.

  What's Wrong With Mother's Day? I Forgot.

  okay, maybe i'm getting old or maybe it's because i have been an exjw for going on 10 years now, but i can't remember what's up with jws and mother's day.

  i remember my mother going with another sister to my brother's classroom for some mother's day pageant back in the 60's when we lived in alaska.

  there is also a commandment in the bible about "honor your father and your mother.

  Mother's Day is one of the few without pagan origins. It was developed in the early 20th century. However, It detracts attention from God so therefore should be avoided. However, when the CO arrives, it's okay to honour him by rearranging your whole schedule, or being honoured to have him over for supper. But not poor old mom!

  the whole discussion on "america" made me wonder the above.. by the way the war of 1812 wasn't against canadians but against the brits and won by americans after the battle of new orleans--which inspired one of the funniest lines in folk music, penned by jimmy driftwood and sung by the great johnny horton:.

  ..."we fired our cannon 'til the barrel melted down.. so we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.. we filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his behind.

  "When Spanish Flu killed millions after the end of the first world war, it was helped to spread by troop movements (returning home) but it spread much more slowly than the current one. Even so, it killed millions."

  The main reason it spread so far and killed so many was that scientists at the time were unaware or virus' and were assuming it was a bacterial problem. This would not happen today, unless of course, a new type of "bug" other than bacterial or a virus existed.
